About / Our Story

We did not set out to start a finance firm. We set out to fix something we kept seeing.

CEOs leading in the dark, making the most consequential decisions of their lives without the financial clarity to make them confidently. Not because they were careless. Because nobody had ever turned on the lights.

The founding conviction

Paul Whitley spent decades inside the rooms where the hard financial decisions get made. Capital raises. Turnarounds. Restructurings. Cash-tight operations where Friday's payroll was on the line and the answer was not obvious.

What he kept seeing was a pattern. CEOs who had built real businesses. Leaders who had taken risks, hired people, served customers, and created something out of nothing. People carrying real responsibility every day. And when it came to understanding their own financial position, they were guessing.

Not because they were careless. Because no one had ever given them the clarity they needed.

That is the gap C-Suite Support was built to fill. Not a services gap. A stewardship gap.

The stewardship shift

There comes a point in a career where success stops being enough. Not because it is bad. Because it is incomplete. You can achieve. You can build. You can accumulate. And still feel like something is missing.

For Paul, that realization reshaped the work. Every business he served was an ecosystem of families, livelihoods, and futures. Behind every P&L was a person who could not sleep. Behind every cash flow gap was a team that did not know if payroll would clear. Behind every financial fog was a leader carrying more than anyone around them understood.

The work was never just about being right. It was about being responsible. That conviction is what runs the firm now.

Buffalo Culture

There is a story from the American plains. When a storm rolls in, cattle turn and run away from it. They end up running alongside the storm for hours, maximizing the time they spend in chaos. Buffalo do the opposite. They turn into the storm and charge through it.

That is how we work. We run toward the messy books. The hard conversations. The cash crises. Not because we like the discomfort. Because that is where the people we serve need us most.

Where we are today

A fractional CFO and financial leadership team serving small and mid-sized businesses generating $2M to $50M in revenue. A Clarity Code methodology refined across hundreds of engagements. A team built on the conviction that one CFO is a single point of failure, so we never deploy one alone.

Industries served: trades and construction, software and technology, healthcare, professional services, nonprofit. Capital deployed and supported across decades, measured in the billions. Owners served, measured one Clarity Call at a time.

If you want a firm that will take your business as seriously as you do, let's talk.

Book a 30-minute Clarity Call. No deck. No prep. Just a clear picture of where you actually are and what would change if your numbers started telling you the truth.
